Turned out mine was BUILT in 2010 - purchased new in 2012. He said that there are typically very little if any changes to the designs from year to year. They explained that there aren't model years for mowers - that a dealer could have purchased it and it just didn't sell, or it could have even sat in a crate for a year before being shipped to a dealer. I noticed the engine HP was marked as 1 HP less than what the online info stated, so I inquired directly with Ferris asking if I had indeed gotten a "2012 model". I found this out when I bought my Ferris walk behind. Mowers don't have "model years" like cars do.
